Twelve Years Later

It’s twelve years ago that I posted my first blog text on this website and this is my third. It’s not that there was nothing to blog about, but my creative work went out in other place, like my website www.simonoak.nl and mainly Facebook. Knowingly, unlike many millions of others, I’ve been lazy and allowed US Big Tech to make me dependent on their big private data collection solutions like Facebook, Twitter, etc. Yes these platforms are brilliant and yes, they are for free, and yes, we, the users, are their product.

Now I’m busy again posting on my independent website and trying to undo myself from the US Big Tech mafia. This is a very difficult and time-consuming process, which proves my point that it needs to be done. You can’t be lazy and independent at the same time. And when I say US mafia, that includes Israel. Israel’s membership of the US mafia has never been clearer than today with the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Even my own country, The Netherlands, is not independent. The latest news I read this morning, is that if The Netherlands would no longer buy arms from Israel its National Defence would not be able to perform their task of keeping The Netherlands safe.

Think about that!
